Mary and Ethel: How I Learned to Sing

celebrates the muses of Golden Age Musical Theatre; Ethel Merman-brassy, unapologetic, bold and Mary Martin-vulnerable, dainty, and lovely. These women inspired some of the greatest composers such as George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne, Jerry Herman, Kurt Weill and more. Ethel and Mary: How I Learned to Sing features Augustana College Theatre professor, Shelley Cooper and new medleys arranged by Quad City music director, Mason Moss. Medleys feature songs from the hit shows Anything Goes!, Hello, Dolly!, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Annie Get Your Gun, Peter Pan, and more!

Cooper has a powerhouse voice and a wide range. She also has exquisite vocal control, and can booth coo a soft phrase and shake the ceiling with profoundly loud, operatic note.
